Azerbaijani boxer outshines Armenian rival to grab European gold PHOTO
Final fights of the European Youth Boxing Championship (U22) took place on November 19 in Budva, Montenegro.
According to Report, two Azerbaijani boxers took the ring in the decisive encounters of the tournament.
Nijat Huseynov, in the 51 kg weight category, defeated the Armenian Rudolf Garboyan to grab the gold medal, without bowing to his opponent in a single round - 5:0 (29:28, 30:27, 29:28, 30:27, 30:27 ).
Huseynov became a two-time European champion, defending his title.
In the meantime, Azrak Babirov (57 kg) won silver at the continental championship.
In total, members of the Azerbaijani national team won five medals at the European Championships, including one gold, one silver, and three bronze. Tural Saryev (48 kg), Murad Allahverdiev (80 kg) and Marzhona Savrieva (50 kg) won bronze prizes.
Last year, at a similar tournament in Croatia, the Azerbaijani team took one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.
