Azerbaijani deputy prime minister attends CIS Economic Council meeting in Moscow
On March 29th, the 101st meeting of the CIS Economic Council convened in Moscow, focusing on a broad spectrum of economic cooperation issues among Commonwealth countries.
Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Alexey Overchuk, the gathering saw the participation of delegates from various member states, including Azerbaijan, represented by First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyubov, Report informs.
Key discussions at the meeting revolved around the activities of the Council for Interregional and Cross-Border Cooperation of the Commonwealth of Independent States spanning 2019–2023.
Additionally, the assembly deliberated on the draft Concept for advancing cooperation in the chemical industry among CIS nations and the accompanying Action Plan for its implementation. Participants also addressed challenges hindering mutual trade within the CIS and put forward recommendations for their resolution.
Other topics included cooperation in light industry, financing of CIS bodies, and the development of the insurance services market. Moreover, the meeting saw the review of the Action Plan for the initial phase of the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030.
Looking ahead, the next session of the Economic Council is slated for June 21, 2024, in Moscow, underscoring the commitment of member states to sustained economic collaboration and progress within the Commonwealth.
