Azerbaijani FM receives Senior Advisor of US State Department for Negotiations in Caucasus PHOTO

On September 16, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Louis Bono, Senior Adviser for Caucasus Negotiations at the US Department of State.

The Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az that the current situation in the region, the normalisation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and existing threats, and challenges were discussed during the meeting.

Jeyhun Bayramov stressed that Armenia and the illegal regime created by it is an obstacle to the implementation of the agreement on the simultaneous opening of the Aghdam-Khankendi and Lachin roads reached during the conversation between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on September 1. He added that this fact once again proves that contrary to the claims about the alleged "humanitarian crisis" and "blockade" in the region, the situation is not humanitarian but political.

Jeyhun Bayramov declared unacceptable the repetition of the Armenian side's allegations by a number of international partners, including the United States, who are well aware of the situation in the region, and stressed that despite Armenia's constant military-political provocations, its slander campaign against Azerbaijan around the world, support for separatism in our territories, Azerbaijan continues to take a constructive position.
