Azerbaijan awaits Israeli PM's visit on May 7-11
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to depart for Azerbaijan on May 7, with plans to return on May 11.
During his visit, Netanyahu will observe the Jewish Sabbath, a tradition he follows during official trips abroad, Caliber.Az reports via Israeli media.
On May 8, Netanyahu is set to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for discussions on bilateral relations. Additionally, the Prime Minister will engage with members of the Jewish community in Azerbaijan, strengthening cultural and diplomatic ties.
The timing of Netanyahu’s visit is particularly symbolic, as May 8 marks the anniversary of the death of Albert Agarunov, an Azerbaijani Jewish national hero, who was killed in battle while defending the city of Shusha in 1992. Netanyahu is set to visit Agarunov's grave at the Alley of Martyrs in Baku, honouring the legacy of this brave figure in Azerbaijani history.
