Azerbaijan-Bangladesh political consultations focus on strengthening bilateral relations PHOTO
Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov visited Bangladesh this week as part of a government delegation.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az that during the visit, Mammadov held meetings with key officials, including the Prime Minister of the temporary government of Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus.
Mammadov presented Muhammad Yunus with a letter from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, inviting him to the 17th summit of heads of state of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), which will be held in Azerbaijan on July 3-4, 2025. Yunus has been invited to attend the summit as a special guest.
Additionally, Mammadov met with the Bangladeshi Foreign Minister, Dr. Touhid Hossain, to discuss matters of mutual interest between the two countries. The visit also included the second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Bangladesh, where the two sides addressed the expansion of bilateral and multilateral political ties. They also discussed the current status and prospects of cooperation in areas such as trade and economics, energy, tourism, agriculture, and humanitarian efforts.
Both sides expressed strong approval of the ongoing partnership between Azerbaijan and Bangladesh within international organisations and emphasised the importance of mutual support in a multilateral format.
The visit concluded with a meeting between Mammadov and the head of the Bangladesh Foreign Policy Academy. Mammadov delivered a lecture to students at the academy on the topic of "Azerbaijan's Foreign Policy," further strengthening ties and sharing insights into Azerbaijan’s foreign relations approach.
