Azerbaijani MFA responds to Germany’s statements on Karabakh
Spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Aykhan Hajizada has written that a year ago, Azerbaijan put an end to Armenia's illegal military presence and its separatist regime in the Karabakh region.
"The notion of 'Nagorno-Karabakh' as a distinct region or entity no longer exists," Hajizada wrote on X in response to the German Federal Foreign Office’s statement, Caliber.Az reports.
He reminded that the conflict began 30 years ago due to Armenia's military aggression and ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis.
"The conflict concluded with Azerbaijan restoring its territorial integrity and sovereignty," he noted.
Hajizada stated that the Armenians left the Karabakh region voluntarily, emphasising that it was their choice.
"Azerbaijan urged Armenians not to abandon their houses. Now is the time for peace. We hope that Armenia will respond positively to Azerbaijan's goodwill gestures and abandon territorial claims against neighbouring countries, not just in words, but in actions."
