Azerbaijani president discusses expanding ties with new Australian ambassador
On August 5, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of Miles Robert Armitage, the newly appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Australia.
During their meeting, President Aliyev expressed optimism about the potential for strengthening bilateral relations despite the geographical distance between Azerbaijan and Australia, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He emphasized the importance of developing economic and trade ties, noting that while political relations are positive, there is room for improvement in investment and trade cooperation.
Ambassador Armitage expressed his enthusiasm for enhancing bilateral relations and highlighted the opportunities for collaboration in the economy and trade. He also congratulated Azerbaijan on hosting COP29 and praised the country's efforts to support small island states in the upcoming summit.
