Azerbaijani president makes key diplomatic appointments and recalls
In a significant reshuffling of Azerbaijan’s foreign service, President Ilham Aliyev has signed a series of decrees affecting key diplomatic positions.
In a series of decisions, the president has recalled several high-ranking ambassadors and appointed new officials to key diplomatic positions, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani president's official website.
Among the changes, Yashar Teymur oglu Aliyev has been recalled from his role as Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. This move was made in accordance with Article 109, Paragraph 15 of the Azerbaijani Constitution, which governs diplomatic appointments. Following his recall, President Aliyev has appointed Aliyev as the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic, a position previously held by Adish Sakit oglu Mammadov.
In parallel, Mammadov has been reassigned to a new diplomatic role, taking up the position of Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar, after the recall of Mahir Mammad oglu Aliyev from the post.
In another notable move, Tofig Fuad oglu Musayev has been appointed as Azerbaijan’s new Permanent Representative to the United Nations. This appointment follows the recall of Yashar Teymur oglu Aliyev.
Further reshuffling includes the appointment of Mammad Bahaddin oglu Ahmadzada as Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, Jalal Sabir oglu Mirzayev has been recalled from his duties as Ambassador to Indonesia, the Philippines, Timor-Leste, and Singapore, as well as from his position as Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
To continue Azerbaijan’s diplomatic engagement with Southeast Asia, Ramil Abil oglu Rzayev has been appointed as the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Indonesia.
