Baku: Scientific capital of two continents Countdown begins to the Eurasia Universities Summit / PHOTO
On 24–25 September 2025 (Wednesday and Thursday), Baku will host leaders of the world’s top universities, scholars, and experts in the field of education.
According to Caliber.Az, the “Eurasia Universities Summit 2025”, organised by the international ranking agency Times Higher Education (THE), will this year focus on the theme: “Transnational research: From knowledge to global impact.”
More than 300 participants, 150 organisations, and over 50 international and local speakers from more than 20 countries will discuss global scientific and research cooperation, the contribution of Eurasian universities to socio-economic development, and the role of higher education in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Key panels and sessions will feature: Ulker Sattarova, Director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education; Balazs Hanko, Hungary’s Minister of Culture and Innovation; Phil Baty, Global Director at THE; Elchin Babayev, Rector of Baku State University; Rufat Azizov, Rector of Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry; Vilayat Valiyev, Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University; Hassan Awad, Rector of Abu Dhabi University; Ahmad Waqar, Rector of Nazarbayev University; Levente Kovacs, Rector of Obuda University; Thomas Auf der Heyde, Executive Director of the Constructor University; and other prominent figures in education.
This large-scale gathering will serve as an important platform to showcase the potential for cooperation among Eurasian universities, pave the way for new partnerships, and elevate the scientific and educational capabilities of the region to a global level.
