Belarus massing troops to border with Ukraine
Command and staff exercises with territorial defence forces have begun in Rogachev and Kormyan districts of Belarus's Gomel region, which borders the Chernihiv region of Ukraine.
During the exercise, the issues of protection and defence of facilities will be worked out, as well as participation in the provision of martial law measures with the involvement of volunteers of the people's militia, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Belarus Defence Ministry press service.
The readiness of officials of military units of territorial troops to carry out combat training tasks will also be assessed. The personnel will be trained to fulfil their duties in solving thero-defence tasks, etc.
The same exercise began in the Voronovsky district of the Hrodna region, bordering Lithuania. For this event, training camps of the district's territorial troops were organised. The purpose of the exercise is to improve the skills of reserve officers in leading subordinate territorial defence forces.
The exercise with the territorial defence forces in Gomel and Hrodna regions will last until April 4.
