Belarusian president announces key personnel decisions in economic bloc

03 March 2025 15:13

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has made important personnel decisions as part of the ongoing formation of the government’s economic bloc.

President Lukashenko described the current lineup as "new old," noting that many of the appointees had already been appointed and worked before the elections, providing voters with clarity on the president's future team, Caliber.Az reports via Belarussian media.

The economic bloc of the government will be led by First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov, who will take charge of overseeing the economic policies and strategies of the government.

Lukashenko also emphasised a significant shift in the government’s structure, highlighting that the deputy prime ministers will play a more central role in decision-making. The president explained that the prime minister’s role will be largely coordinating, focusing on organising the work of the government and leading meetings.

However, the prime minister will not have the authority to make unilateral decisions or assert dominance over other government members, particularly the deputy prime ministers. This new approach to governance reflects Lukashenko's vision for a more collaborative and balanced decision-making process within the government.
