Bloomberg: US blockade disrupts Iranian oil export flows
A maritime blockade by the United States is preventing the delivery of Iranian crude oil to buyers, Bloomberg reports, citing satellite imagery and maritime analysis data.
Late last week, around six to eight supertankers loaded with Iranian oil were idling in the Chabahar area — a port outside the Persian Gulf located near the blockade line, the report added.
Smaller tankers were also observed in the same area, where, according to the US Navy, two very large crude carriers (VLCCs) intercepted last week were redirected.
Bloomberg noted that the buildup of vessels suggests Iran continues to load oil onto tankers, but traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is close to zero. As a result, Tehran may soon be forced to halt production, as available storage capacity is nearing its limit.
