bp vice-president: Azerbaijan has opportunities to become "green" energy hub
Azerbaijan is not only a traditional oil and gas country, but can also become an energy centre that will contribute to the development of green energy.
Aslanbeyli, bp's vice president for external relations and communications in the Caspian region, made the remarks while addressing the summit on industrial safety, APA reports.
According to him, opportunities, experience, personnel potential and oil and gas infrastructure available in Azerbaijan allow to say that the country has certain prospects for hydrogen production.
Aslanbeyli also noted that if these opportunities are properly assessed and realized in a balanced way, Azerbaijan has opportunities to become an energy hub that will develop green energy.
The representative of the company added that bp aims to become a zero-emission company by 2050 and earlier, and to make changes in its strategy for this purpose: "But this does not mean that the company gives up its activities in the traditional oil and gas sector, but simply provides for the production of oil and gas with low emissions. Until 2030, bp plans to allocate $9 billion a year to the oil and gas sector."
