Brad Pitt buys most expensive house for $40 million
Brad Pitt bought a $40 million mansion built in 1918 for writer D.L. James.
The house, purchased by the 58-year-old actor, is located on Carmel Rock in California and is considered the most expensive in the state, The Daily Mail reports.
The historic mansion, known as the Seaward, was built in 1918 by iconic 20th-century architect Charles Summer Green for writer Daniel Lewis James.
The intricate brickwork on the exterior of the house was carefully crafted by the architect, who wanted the house to blend in with the rocky coastline. The interior of the house is made in craft style - there is a lot of wood, arched windows, a fireplace and antique furniture.
Locals are reportedly excited about the celebrity's new neighbour, especially after the iconic home has sat empty for years.
