Russian drone barrage hits Ukraine's Dnipro: Civilians injured PHOTO
Russian forces launched a series of drone attacks on the Dnipropetrovsk region overnight, resulting in multiple injuries and significant damage to residential and civil infrastructure.
According to reports from Ukrainian media, the assault involved dozens of strike drones targeting Dnipro and surrounding areas.
The information was confirmed by Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, and Oleksandr Vilkul, chairman of the Kryvyi Rih Defence Council.
Lysak stated that Ukraine’s air defence systems intercepted 33 enemy drones during the night. However, several managed to reach their targets, causing destruction and casualties.
“Four people were injured as a result of the attack in Dnipro,” Lysak reported. “A 43-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman were hospitalised with moderate injuries.”
The strikes sparked several fires across the city. One administrative building was completely burned down. In total, 12 cars were destroyed and another 17 vehicles sustained damage. The explosions also damaged eight residential buildings and completely destroyed one private home. Infrastructure belonging to a transport enterprise was also hit.
“Eight private houses, a five-story residential building, and a car were affected. Infrastructure, an administrative building, and a business were damaged. A library was also destroyed by fire,” Lysak summarised.
In Kryvyi Rih, Oleksandr Vilkul reported ten drone strikes overnight by Iranian-made “Shahed” drones.
“Several fires broke out. A modular house was damaged. All emergency services were dispatched, and by 5:00 a.m., the fires had been extinguished. Thankfully, there were no casualties or injuries,” Vilkul said.
Emergency response teams continue to work at the scene, assessing the full extent of the damage.
