British foreign secretary to deliver message from Trump to Iran
Diplomatic efforts to prevent the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran are intensifying, with the United Kingdom playing a key role. British Foreign Secretary David Lammy is set to deliver a message from the Trump administration to Iran during talks in Geneva on June 20.
Lammy recently met with US officials, including Senator Marco Rubio and President Trump’s chief negotiator Steve Witkoff, in Washington. Sources close to the discussions described the meeting as positive, with the US still keeping military options open while seeking a diplomatic resolution, Caliber.Az reports via Sky News.
In Geneva, Lammy will meet Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi, alongside French and German counterparts, aiming to open dialogue focused on Iran’s controversial uranium enrichment program and alleged nuclear weapons development. The message from Washington, carried by Lammy, is expected to be pivotal in shaping the next steps of this fragile process.
However, Israel remains excluded from the talks and continues to express deep distrust toward Iran, warning that diplomatic delays could undermine their military advances. While President Trump appears willing to extend talks for up to two weeks before considering military intervention, tensions remain high.
The outcome hinges on whether Iran can be convinced to halt its uranium enrichment and provide verifiable guarantees that its nuclear program will remain strictly civilian. Until then, the risk of further escalation, including potential US military action, looms large.
