Budapest proposes new scheme for oil transit through Kyiv
The Hungarian oil and gas company MOL is discussing a new scheme of Russian oil transit through Ukraine, Gergely Gulyás, Minister of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Office.
According to this scheme, MOL will be responsible for the supplies, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Gulyás said that MOL is looking for alternative solutions after Ukraine banned the transport of LUKOIL's oil through its pipelines. At the same time, the head of Orban's office said, the new transit scheme would be more costly and risky.
Hungarian oil and gas company MOL is currently exploring alternative options for continuing the transit of Russian oil through Ukraine after Kyiv imposed a ban on the transport of oil from Russia's largest private oil company, Lukoil, through its pipelines. This situation has created significant challenges for Hungary, a country that relies heavily on Russian oil for its energy needs.
