Chairperson: COP29 sustainability report sets new global standard for climate conferences
A report on the sustainability of COP29 has been published, establishing a new global benchmark for environmentally responsible climate conferences.
Speaking on the second day of Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025), Narmin Jarchalova, Chair of the Board and Chief Operating Officer of Azerbaijan’s COP29 Organising Company, highlighted the report’s significance, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“The report showcases the extensive measures taken to ensure that COP29 became one of the most sustainable global climate conferences,” Jarchalova said.
“During Azerbaijan’s presidency of COP29, sustainability principles were integrated at every stage—from planning and execution to the ongoing legacy—setting new standards for future organisers.”
She added that the legacy of COP29 extends beyond Azerbaijan, benefiting the entire international climate community. “The COP29 Sustainability Report, which documents verified achievements and lessons learned, is now available on the official COP29 website,” Jarchalova noted.
