China introduces revolutionary separating drone with battlefield potential
Chinese scientists have unveiled a groundbreaking military drone capable of splitting into six separate parts mid-flight, potentially revolutionizing warfare tactics on the battlefield.
This innovation represents a significant technological leap, presenting new possibilities for military operations, Business Insider reports.
Experts suggest that the proliferation of drones could lead to the formation of swarms, posing challenges for air defence systems and offering a strategic advantage in combat scenarios.
"The main benefit is the ability to confuse the response of air defence systems," Will Shumate, an Assistant Policy Researcher of China, technology, and security at RAND, told Business Insider, highlighting the disruptive potential of this cutting-edge technology.
Developed by scientists from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, these new drones surpass traditional multi-rotor models in terms of speed and efficiency. They boast flight capabilities nearly twice as efficient as those of similar drones, according to the researchers.
