Court rejects Prosperous Armenia bid to review election results
An administrative court has dismissed lawsuits filed by the Prosperous Armenia party, which sought to challenge Central Electoral Commission (CEC) decisions annulling the voting results at two polling stations, 10/51 and 35/65.
Votes cast at these stations—more than 200 in total—could have been decisive for the party’s entry into parliament, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian newspaper Hraparak.
Lawyer Aram Orbelyan told the newspaper that Judge Artur Avagyan, despite rejecting the claims, acknowledged violations and the need to hold a repeat vote.
The court decision stated that the CEC is authorised to call repeat voting at individual polling stations. Orbelyan said that, when summarising the election results, the commission will be obliged to take the recorded violations into account and decide on holding a rerun vote.
