Death toll from Bangkok building collapse reaches 86 after earthquake
The number of victims in the earthquake caused by the collapse of the building of the Auditor General's Office under construction in Bangkok has reached 86, with eight people still listed as missing.
According to the administration of the Thai capital, rescue services continue the search operation, clearing the debris of the 30-story building in the Chatuchak area in the northern part of the city to complete the search for workers involved in the project, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
"During the search and rescue operation, 86 bodies of the deceased were found and identified. The search for the eight missing persons is still ongoing," a coordination centre said in a statement.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 8.2 occurred on March 28 in Myanmar. The death toll from the earthquake in the republic has reached 3,800. Thailand was also affected, with strong tremors felt in Bangkok and its surroundings, as well as in the northern, northeastern, central, and southern regions of the kingdom. The building of the Auditor General's Office became the only structure in the Thai capital that could not withstand the force of nature and collapsed.
