Defence Minister: Azerbaijani Army stands as region’s mightiest
Azerbaijani Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has declared that Azerbaijan's Armed Forces are the most powerful in the region and play a crucial role in maintaining peace and stability.
Speaking at a graduation ceremony held at the Heydar Aliyev Military Institute and the Faculty of Military Medicine, Hasanov underscored the significance of the event, noting its alignment with an important milestone for the country, Caliber.Az reports, referring to local media.
"Today's ceremony coincided with a special year – Azerbaijan is solemnly celebrating the Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty," the minister said. "This year, we are also preparing for the fifth anniversary of Victory in the Patriotic War."
Highlighting the role of President Ilham Aliyev in shaping the country's military capabilities, Hasanov credited the head of state for the Armed Forces' current strength.
"As a result of the successful army building policy pursued by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Ilham Aliyev, the modern Azerbaijani Army has become the most powerful army in the region, becoming a guarantor of peace and security," he stated.
Hasanov also emphasised the progress achieved in military education, noting that recent reforms are already delivering concrete results.
"The reforms carried out in the military education system are already yielding tangible results," he said. "The institute's graduates have taken an active part in combat operations, demonstrating courage and heroism."
