Deputy FM: Azerbaijan, regional partners shape new energy map
Azerbaijan is playing a pivotal role in the creation of a new regional energy map, both as a producer and a transit country, Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev said at the 13th International Caspian Energy Forum 2025 in Baku.
Rafiyev highlighted that Azerbaijan, together with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and countries in the Black Sea basin, is becoming a key player in reshaping the energy landscape.
“Azerbaijan plays a significant role in this process as a producer and transit country. Renewable energy projects implemented in Karabakh and East Zangezur, as well as the realisation of the wind potential of the Caspian Sea, turn our country into a green energy centre of the region. We are closely cooperating with international partners to achieve our goals on renewable energy capacity,” he said.
He also emphasised the importance of addressing climate challenges, noting that “special attention is being paid to water management, agricultural resilience, and ecosystem restoration, which strengthens the region's ability to withstand climate risks.”
The 13th Caspian Energy Forum, which began on October 29 in Baku, has brought together representatives from government, business, and diplomatic missions to discuss the region’s role in the global energy transition.
The forum focuses on developing the “Green Energy Corridor” and advancing strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Black Sea countries in the oil and gas sector.
The main objectives of the forum include ensuring effective representation of the international energy agenda in the context of COP29 and COP30, showcasing and supporting key renewable energy and gas projects in the region, exchanging views on creating and strengthening the “Green Energy Corridor” to Europe, deepening dialogue between states, businesses, and international organizations, attracting investments, and expanding partnerships in sustainable energy.
