Diplomat: US–Azerbaijan ties deepen after strategic partnership charter
Bilateral relations between the United States and Azerbaijan have strengthened following the signing of a Charter on Strategic Partnership earlier this year, according to the U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires in Baku.
Speaking to journalists in Lachin, Amy Carlon said cooperation between Washington and Baku has gained momentum since high-level engagements in 2025, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
She pointed to a meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and the United States in Washington in August 2025 as a key turning point, which led to work on the partnership framework.
Carlon noted that the Charter was signed in February 2026 during a visit by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance to Azerbaijan.
"The document focuses on developing transport connectivity, commercial and economic cooperation, as well as defense and security cooperation. Since the signing of the Charter, technical experts and other specialists from the US have visited Azerbaijan to launch specific projects and advance bilateral cooperation," she said.
Officials say the agreement is intended to expand collaboration across multiple sectors, with follow-up engagements already underway to implement joint initiatives.
