Diplomatic event in Moscow showcases Azerbaijan’s vibrant cultural mosaic

30 January 2026 19:41

A vibrant cultural event titled “Azerbaijan: Land of a Thousand Colors” was held at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Russia, organized in collaboration with the International Women’s Club in Moscow. The event attracted spouses of foreign diplomats, members of the international diplomatic community, and representatives of civil society organizations.

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Russia, Rahman Mustafayev, highlighted that the program featured national costumes, music, dance, and traditional Azerbaijani cuisine, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

“The centerpiece of today’s event is the presentation of national costumes accompanied by Azerbaijani music, representing the country’s diverse regions. Azerbaijan is distinguished by its rich cultural diversity,” he said.

Ambassador Mustafayev emphasized that Azerbaijan’s mountainous and lowland regions, varied climates, and distinct ethnic and cultural traditions are reflected not only in clothing but also in language, customs, and religious practices. “This diversity makes Azerbaijani culture both rich and multifaceted,” he noted.

National identity through music, dance, and traditional dress, he added, offers insight into the mentality, character, and individuality of the Azerbaijani people. He expressed hope that participants would actively engage with the event and take away memorable experiences.

Nisa Mustafayeva, the ambassador’s wife, underscored the importance of cultural dialogue and humanitarian exchanges in fostering mutual understanding between peoples.

Spouses of other ambassadors praised the event’s role in promoting Azerbaijani culture. Betul Aksoy Bilgiç, wife of the Turkish ambassador to Russia, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in strengthening cultural ties, while Aldona Krajewska, spouse of the Polish ambassador, described the Azerbaijani Embassy as “a home away from home,” recalling her five years of diplomatic service in Azerbaijan.

The program featured traditional dances, regional costumes, musical performances, and elements of Azerbaijani decorative arts, including kalaghai. Guests also enjoyed Azerbaijani culinary specialties and sweets, accompanied by tea.
