Edenred Italy ordered to stand trial over alleged tender fraud case
Edenred’s Italian unit has been ordered to stand trial over allegations of fraud and bid-rigging linked to a public procurement tender, a Rome judge ruled, two judicial sources confirmed.
The judge ordered the Italian subsidiary, along with two former executives, to stand trial over charges of aggravated fraud and manipulation of a public tender launched in 2019. Proceedings against two other individuals previously under investigation were dismissed, Reuters reports.
The trial is scheduled to begin in Rome on January 12, 2027, the sources said.
The French group and its Italian unit were not immediately available for comment.
Edenred had previously disclosed the investigation into its Italian operations in February 2024, stating at the time that it could not comment on the case but expressed confidence in the outcome.
According to a statement issued by Rome prosecutors, the case concerns the awarding of meal voucher contracts for Italy’s public administration, with investigators examining alleged irregularities in a 2019 tender process.
