Eight killed as drunk driver hits electric bicycle riders in China
Eight people were killed after a car struck a group of electric bicycle riders in the eastern Chinese province of Shandong, the local police said.
Four others were hospitalised with injuries, and their condition is described as stable, Caliber.Az reports, citing Global Times.
The driver of the car, a 37-year-old man, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, the police added.
Preliminary findings indicate that the driver was driving a passenger car and collided with several electric bicycles, police said.
The crash left one person dead, seven others later died despite rescue efforts at hospitals, according to the police notice.
The incident occurred late on October 14, and an additional investigation is underway.
