Embassy calls Azerbaijani citizens to suspend travels to Ukraine

03 November 2022 09:30

The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Kyiv appealed to compatriots in connection with the current military situation in Ukraine.

The embassy called the Azerbaijani citizens to temporarily suspend plans for visiting the war-hit country, Caliber.Az reports.

“Our citizens who prefer to stay in Ukraine during the period of evacuation or return after evacuation, we ask you to be careful during the air raid, take refuge in shelters or relatively safe places, comply with the requirements and recommendations of state bodies, have relevant documents with you, and compatriots, those planning to visit Ukraine - temporarily abandon these plans in the absence of extreme necessity," the message says.

It is also noted that in connection with Victory Day and the Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 396 dated October 18, 2022, temporary changes were made to the work schedule of the consular department of the embassy.

“The consular reception will be closed on November 6,7, and 8, 2022, and admission will be held on November 5 and 9, 2022. Reception hours remain unchanged. In case of urgent measures, please call 0994089943 and 0735050000," the embassy explained.

"Considering that the announcement of October 11, 2022, that admissions to the consulate would be suspended for the safety of applicants during air raid hours was misinterpreted by a number of our citizens, including some media outlets, as the termination of the work of the consular service and even the embassy in general.

An air raid alert is a warning that a community may be exposed to air strikes, at which time residents are advised to go to shelters for their own safety. As you know, during alarm hours, enterprises and catering facilities stop receiving visitors and resume work after the end of the air raid alert.

Considering that since October 10, 2022, Kyiv has been intensively subjected to air strikes, a forced decision was made to suspend consular reception during air alert hours.

During the absence of an air alert, the consulate continues to work according to the schedule announced by the reception (reception of applications on weekdays from 10:00 to 13:00 [local time], issuance of finished documents from 15:00 to 17:00).”
