Envoy: Tajikistan interested in Azerbaijani investments
Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ilhom Abdurahmon has said Tajikistan is interested in cooperating with Azerbaijan on energy projects.
"Tajikistan is interested in Azerbaijan's investments and joint implementation of various economic projects in the hydropower sector, construction of small and large hydropower plants on mutually beneficial terms," the ambassador told Trend.
He stressed the importance of Tajikistan's water and energy programmes for the development goals of the entire Central Asian region.
"Tajikistan is rich in water and energy resources, of which only a small share is currently utilised. Meanwhile, the electricity needs of the region and neighbouring countries are growing year by year," he added.
"There is no denying that our hydropower projects are of regional importance and their realisation will serve the interests of all Central Asian countries. It not only allows us to benefit from cost-effective power generation and transit, but also ensures stability of water supply," the Ambassador said.
He noted that Tajikistan and Azerbaijan are currently working on many projects of an economic nature covering the energy sector, oil industry and aluminium industry.
The ambassador invited Azerbaijani companies and potential investors to actively participate in the implementation of water and energy projects and projects related to alternative energy sources in Tajikistan.
