Turkish companies eye renewable energy production in Azerbaijan

31 August 2026 19:05

Turkish companies are interested in establishing production of renewable energy technologies and equipment in Azerbaijan, according to the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA).

The agency said the issue was discussed during a meeting between its director, Javid Abdullayev, and a delegation from the Turkish-Azerbaijani Business Council, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The delegation included Business Council Chairman Selçuk Akat and representatives of Turkish companies operating in the oil, construction, banking, advertising, energy and other sectors.

Akat said Azerbaijan has paid particular attention to the development of green energy in recent years. He added that Turkish companies have significant experience in renewable energy and are interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan.

Abdullayev briefed the delegation on renewable energy projects being implemented in Azerbaijan, including commissioned and under-construction power plants, as well as plans for further development of the sector.

He also noted that Turkish companies are already participating in several renewable energy projects, particularly in the Karabakh and Nakhchivan economic regions. Photovoltaic panels for solar power plants under construction in Nakhchivan are also being supplied from Türkiye.
