Azerbaijan, Switzerland eye new investment opportunities in Bern

02 September 2026 17:58

Azerbaijan and Switzerland are set to discuss prospects for expanding investment ties at the 10th meeting of the Swiss-Azerbaijani Joint Economic Commission in Bern on September 15.

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov will co-chair the commission alongside Andrea Rauber Saxer, head of the Bilateral Economic Relations Division at Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs and the Swiss Federal Council’s representative for trade agreements, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The previous meeting of the commission, its ninth session, was held in Baku on December 13, 2022.

During his visit to Switzerland, Jabbarov is also scheduled to attend the Business Forum – Investment Opportunities in Azerbaijan, bringing together representatives of the business communities of both countries.

The discussions are expected to focus on expanding investment cooperation, identifying promising areas for joint projects and strengthening bilateral economic relations.

Swiss investment in Azerbaijan has increased significantly in recent years. According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, Swiss foreign direct investment (FDI) in Azerbaijan reached $326.378 million in 2025, a 5.06-fold increase from the previous year.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani FDI in Switzerland fell 43.19% year-on-year to $37.833 million in 2025.
