Azerbaijan’s mine clearance efforts open door to major investment—official
The clearance of landmines from Azerbaijan’s liberated territories is creating the conditions needed to attract investment, expand entrepreneurship and implement major infrastructure projects, Deputy Economy Minister Anar Akhundov said.
Speaking at a panel discussion during the 4th International Mine Action Conference, Akhundov noted that Azerbaijan is implementing extensive support measures and incentive mechanisms for both residents and businesses to improve the investment climate, stimulate production and promote entrepreneurship in the liberated territories, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He said the improving investment environment is already attracting foreign capital, with investors from Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Lithuania, Switzerland, Russia, Pakistan and Belarus carrying out projects across various sectors of the economy in the liberated areas.
Akhundov stressed that mine clearance and the safe handover of cleared land for use are essential for infrastructure development, including the construction of new highways and railway lines.
Azerbaijan is pursuing large-scale transport infrastructure projects in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur to strengthen the liberated territories’ integration with national and international transport networks.
The deputy minister also highlighted the potential of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, saying its development would help expand connectivity between Europe and Asia while boosting the region’s transit, logistics and investment potential.
