Estonia introduces full customs control with Russia
The Estonian authorities have introduced full customs control at the border with Russia as of August 8.
Now all persons crossing the border with Russia, as well as all cargo, will be subject to inspection. Previously, the inspection was carried out on a random basis, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Mihal said full customs control is introduced to prevent the transportation of sanctioned goods through Estonia. He specified that the measure would affect the Narva, Koidula and Lujamaa checkpoints.
The Prime Minister explained that when crossing the border on foot, customs officers will take longer to check each person and their luggage. If a person crosses the border by car, the vehicle itself and the things in it will be checked. Bus passengers will be inspected along with their luggage.
