EU and NATO “preparing to occupy” Moldova, Russian intel claims
The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has accused the European Union of planning to occupy Moldova and of preparing to deploy NATO troops in Ukraine’s Odessa region with the aim of intimidating Transnistria. The information was released by the SVR press office and reported by TASS.
According to the SVR, Brussels officials are “determined to keep Moldova in line with their Russophobic policy.” The agency added that the EU intends to achieve this objective “at any cost, up to and including the introduction of troops and the actual occupation of the country.”
The SVR further claimed that NATO armed forces are being concentrated in Romania, close to the Moldovan border, in preparation for these operations. “At this stage, NATO armed forces are being concentrated in Romania near the Moldovan border,” the statement said.
The agency also reported that a NATO “landing force” is being readied to land in the Odessa region with the stated goal of intimidating Transnistria.
According to the SVR, the first group of professional soldiers from France and Britain has already been deployed.
