EU countries boost ammunition production
During the regular session in Strasbourg held on July 13, Members of the European Parliament (EP) approved plans to expand the production of ammunition and missiles in the EU to address their shortage.
This is stated in a statement published on the EP website, TASS reports.
According to the text agreed with the EU Council last week, the Ammunition Production Support Act (ASAP) "aims to speed up the delivery of ammunition and missiles to Ukraine and help member states replenish their arsenals," the European Parliament notes. It involves the urgent allocation of €500 million from the EU budget to boost the production of ammunition and missiles.
"The aim of ASAP is to increase EU production capacity to address the current shortage of defence products, in particular artillery ammunition, missiles and their components," the European Parliament stresses.
