CNN: WSJ removed from Trump’s press pool due to Epstein article
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) was not allowed one of the prestigious spots in the press pool during President Donald Trump’s upcoming trip to Scotland.
According to CNN, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the change was made “due to the Wall Street Journal’s fake and defamatory conduct,” in the form of the publication’s recent article about Trump’s connection with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
"As the appeals court confirmed, the Wall Street Journal or any other news outlet are not guaranteed special access to cover President Trump in the Oval Office, aboard Air Force One, and in his private workspaces," Leavitt said on July 21.
She added that thirteen media outlets will participate in the press pool covering the president’s trip to Scotland, but the Wall Street Journal will not be among them.
CNN noted that the Wall Street Journal journalist, who was not involved in the article about Epstein’s birthday letter, was supposed to be part of the pool during the president’s trip to the golf courses in Scotland.
