Poland reaffirms commitment to NATO amid Trump’s remarks on alliance reliability
Poland has reaffirmed its commitment as a reliable and responsible NATO ally following comments by US President Donald Trump questioning the alliance's effectiveness.
In a post on X, Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasised that Poland has consistently stood by its allies whenever security has been threatened, Caliber.Az reports.

He highlighted that the Polish Army has participated in missions in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as in current NATO-led operations, often paying the ultimate price in defence of international security and Poland’s own safety. Kosiniak-Kamysz said that the sacrifice of Polish soldiers cannot be forgotten or minimised and underscored that Poland remains a proven and steadfast ally.
The statement came in response to remarks made by President Trump on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Switzerland on January 22.
“We’ve never needed them—we have never really asked anything of them,” the President told Fox Business. “You know, they’ll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan or this or that, and they did: they stayed a little back, little off the front lines.”
