EU to provide Armenia with €140 million, says EU commissioner
The European Union will grant Armenia an additional €140 million in financial assistance to support reforms and deepen bilateral cooperation, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos stated.
During joint statements with Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, Kos highlighted that Armenia is a reliable EU partner in the South Caucasus and emphasised the region’s growing importance amid geopolitical tensions, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
“This is an important year for Armenia. In May, Armenia will host the European Political Community Summit, followed by the first-ever EU-Armenia Summit. This demonstrates how much the importance of this region has increased for Europe and how deeply our partnership has developed,” she said.
The commissioner noted that freight transport through the South Caucasus has quadrupled since 2022 and stressed that infrastructure investments could further increase efficiency by reducing time and transportation costs.
