Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council of Azerbaijanis condemns European Parliament's biased resolution

28 March 2024 09:34

The Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council of Azerbaijanis has issued a stern statement directed at the European Parliament's biased resolution, calling for an end to double standards.

The statement emphasizes Azerbaijan's longstanding commitment to engaging in dialogue on issues that align with its national interests and those of mutual concern, Report informs.

“Azerbaijan has always stood for the inclusion on the agenda and discussion of issues that correspond to its national interests and are of mutual interest, as well as the adoption of appropriate decisions. He has successfully collaborated and continues to cooperate with international organizations. However, under the influence of external forces, some organizations have an objective and biased attitude towards Azerbaijan,” the statement reads.

Specifically, the council points to the European Parliament, citing a recent resolution adopted on March 13, 2024, as a prime example of this bias. The resolution, according to the council, contains statements that are deemed absurd and offensive, violating the norms of international relations and encroaching upon Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

“The adoption of a resolution in the European Parliament on March 13, 2024, which is another example of double standards, indicates a biased attitude towards Azerbaijan.

The resolution clearly reflects absurd and offensive statements that contradict the fundamentals of international relations and go beyond political and ethical norms. It also includes ideas that contain clear violations of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. This reveals the true motives of the members of the European Parliament behind this resolution,” it adds.

In a strongly worded rebuke, the council condemns the European Parliament's resolution as part of “slanderous campaigns” against Azerbaijan. It accuses members of the European Parliament of harbouring ulterior motives behind the resolution, which it claims is rife with double standards.

"The biased resolution adopted by the European Parliament is yet another attempt to tarnish our country's reputation," stated the council. "We categorically reject this resolution and demand an immediate end to the policy of double standards targeting Azerbaijan."
