French media spotlight upcoming Trump-Aliyev-Pashinyan summit at White House PHOTO
French media outlets are closely following the upcoming high-level meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and US President Donald Trump, with widespread coverage across television channels, news agencies, and online platforms.
The French press underscores that the primary goal of the summit—scheduled for August 8 at the White House—is to bring a definitive end to the decades-long conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, culminating in the signing of a formal peace agreement, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
French publications cite President Trump's statement shared on social media, in which he declared:
“Many leaders have tried to end the war, with no success, until now, thanks to 'TRUMP.'
This message has drawn international attention, positioning the summit as a potential turning point in one of the region’s most entrenched disputes.
The anticipated peace document, to be signed in Washington, is expected to officially close the chapter on the Karabakh conflict. The document follows significant changes on the ground: Azerbaijan restored its full territorial integrity following military operations in 2020 and 2023, while Armenia has signaled a readiness to drop constitutional references to territorial claims over Karabakh, paving the way for a diplomatic breakthrough.
French analysts note that the trilateral meeting reflects a strategic shift in US engagement in the South Caucasus, with Washington playing an active role in shaping the region’s post-conflict architecture. The proposed agreement is not only seen as a step toward political normalization but also as a potential catalyst for regional economic integration.
