“Historic Azerbaijan–Armenia summit at the White House. Principled diplomacy led by President Ilham Aliyev brings stability, security, and prosperity to our region,” Hajizada wrote, underlining the significance of the breakthrough talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
On August 8, 2025, a historic summit took place at the White House where U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The leaders signed a preliminary peace agreement aimed at ending decades of conflict, primarily over the Karabakh region. A key element of the deal is the creation of the "Trump Route" — a strategic transit corridor connecting Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave through Armenia, with exclusive development rights granted to the United States. The agreement also includes expanded economic and security cooperation and the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, signaling a shift to direct U.S.-facilitated negotiations.
