Facing dwindling ratings, Pashinyan guarantees 2026 election success While strategizing for 2031
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed confidence to his associates that the ruling party will secure victory in the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for 2026, stating that only technical and organizational issues remain to be addressed.
Yerevan-based newspaper claims that Pashinyan's remarks were aimed at reassuring his team amid concerns regarding their declining popularity, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the article, Pashinyan urged his colleagues to start considering strategies for the 2031 elections as well. Despite these reassurances, members of the ruling Civil Contract party are reportedly anxious about their plummeting approval ratings, which have dropped during their tenure due to a range of security challenges. They fear they may encounter significant difficulties in the 2026 elections and might not achieve the necessary votes to secure their positions, the author says.
In contrast to Pashinyan’s optimism, Armen Khachatryan, a deputy from the Civil Contract party, remarked that such discussions were not part of his meetings with Pashinyan.
“We can be sure of the election results only after the results are counted. This applies to any elections; even an hour before the elections, it is wrong to have such a conviction,” the newspaper quotes him as saying.
