IRGC reports death of 56 servicemen in 12-day conflict with Israel PHOTO
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the deaths of 56 of its servicemen amid the recent conflict escalation with Israel.
The IRGC published a photograph commemorating the fallen soldiers, stating "pictures of 56 army martyrs defending the homeland," Caliber.Az reports.
The conflict broke out on June 13 after Israel carried out airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites. In retaliation, Iran initially fired over 150 ballistic missiles and more than 100 drones at Tel Aviv and other districts of Israel, causing civilian casualties and significant destruction.
On June 22 the conflict escalated further when the US Air Force launched airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities.
In response, Tehran launched a missile attack on the Al Udeid airbase in Qatar—the largest US military installation in the Middle East. According to US officials, the strike caused no casualties or significant damage.
On June 24, following diplomatic efforts led by the United States, President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a full ceasefire, which subsequently came into effect.
