FBI spots unidentified figure near Epstein’s cell on night of his death
Investigators who reviewed surveillance footage from the night of the death of the notorious American financier Jeffrey Epstein in 2019 noticed an orange-coloured figure near his prison cell.
This follows from an analysis of video footage conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and released by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The footage shows a “flash of orange” moving up a staircase on the upper tier. According to the FBI, it may have been one of the inmates wearing an orange prison uniform.
On 30 January, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the release of the final batch of documents from the Epstein case files. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said that more than 3 million pages of documents had been made public, along with over 2,000 video recordings and 180,000 images. According to him, some of the photos and videos were taken either by Epstein himself or by members of his circle.
Epstein was accused of organising visits by dozens of underage girls to his New York residence and his private island between 2002 and 2005. Investigators determined that the youngest of the victims was 14 years old. In August 2019, the financier was found semi-conscious in his prison cell and later died.
