Finland records exceptionally low electricity prices on power exchange
Finland has recorded extremely low wholesale electricity prices, with levels in some periods even dipping into negative territory.
According to forecasts for April 22, the lowest prices are expected during daytime hours between 13:00 and 16:00, when electricity costs will fluctuate between zero and approximately −0.03 cents per kWh, Caliber.Az reports per Finnish media.
The highest prices are projected late in the evening, around 23:00, when rates are expected to rise to nearly one cent per kWh.
Just a week earlier, electricity prices were significantly higher due to weak wind conditions and scheduled maintenance at one of the reactors of the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant.
The situation has since changed following an increase in wind power generation, which began on April 21 and is expected to continue throughout April 22.
