Russia's Rosatom invites Uzbek firms to join nuclear plant construction
Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom has invited Uzbek and joint Russian-Uzbek enterprises to participate in the construction of a planned nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan, offering what it described as maximum preferences to potential partners.
The announcement was made by Pavel Bezrukov, Vice President and Project Director for the NPP construction in Uzbekistan at Atomstroyexport, during the “Innoprom. Central Asia” exhibition in Tashkent.
Bezrukov said the project would require a wide range of suppliers, including those capable of providing equipment, materials, and resources that can be produced locally in Uzbekistan. He encouraged domestic companies to monitor procurement announcements published on Rosatom platforms as well as local resources.
Bezrukov emphasized that Uzbek and joint ventures would benefit from special conditions, including “maximum preferences and support” in participating in the construction process.
The official also confirmed that key preparatory steps for the project are already underway. The location for a satellite town to serve the future nuclear power plant has been determined, a master plan for the settlement has been developed, and work on project documentation is in progress.
At the same time, efforts to attract investment into the project have already begun, signaling continued momentum in the development of Uzbekistan’s nuclear energy ambitions.
