Finnish FM: NATO meeting to discuss closure of skies over Ukraine
Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto has said that NATO will discuss the issue of closing the sky over Ukraine after two missiles fell in Poland.
Finland is considering three versions of what happened, two of them are based on the assumption that the missile was fired by Russia, he noted, Kommersant reports.
"Of course, the closure of the airspace will be discussed. Various options are now being considered on how to protect Ukraine," Haavisto told a briefing.
Earlier, it was reported that at Poland's request, NATO ambassadors will hold an emergency meeting on November 16.
Haavisto said that Finland, which has applied to join the alliance, will attend the meeting as an observer member.
He noted that the country is sure that the incident could have occurred as a result of a deliberate Russian strike or hit by a "stray projectile".
The minister also added that the version that the rocket did not come from Russia is also being considered.
