Finnish president asserts Ukrainians to be Europeans, not Russians
Finnish President Alexander Stubb has stated that Europe must establish several "red lines" regarding Ukraine's future.
Stubb made these remarks at the Munich Security Conference, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"There are two red lines where no discussion is possible – Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO," the president said.
He reminded that Kyiv is already negotiating EU membership and emphasised that Ukrainians will be Europeans, not Russians.
Stubb also assured that at some point, Ukraine will be in NATO.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration and Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna confirmed that Hungary had blocked the country’s EU accession process by utilizing the unanimous decision-making principle in this matter. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiga, spoke of a “decisive moment” for the republic and urged Europe to demonstrate its strength.
