First India-bound LNG tanker crosses Strait of Hormuz since conflict began
A liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker destined for India has transited the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since the start of the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, Bloomberg reports, citing maritime tracking data.
The vessel, identified as Al Hamra, is owned by the UAE-based company ADNOC Logistics & Services. In April, it had been positioned near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, and on April 19 its crew switched off its transponders. The tanker later reactivated its signal while already in the Indian Ocean.
According to Kpler data, the vessel was loaded with gas at ADNOC’s facility on Das Island in the Persian Gulf.
Satellite imagery shows multiple tankers in the area with their tracking transmitters turned off, the report added.
