FM Araghchi condemns Davos double standards, citing biased reporting on Iran
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that it was essential to clarify the true picture of recent events in Iran, accusing the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos of bias and political partisanship.
In a post on X, Araghchi said forum organisers, influenced by what he described as “lies and political pressure from Israel and its US-based proxies and apologists,” blocked his participation, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the minister, they ignored what he called a “fundamental truth” — the need to protect the Iranian people from armed terrorists and ISIS-style mass killings, which Tehran claims were openly supported by Israel’s Mossad intelligence service.
Araghchi emphasised that Davos was applying blatant double standards, noting that the “genocide of Palestinians” and the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians in Gaza did not prevent Israeli officials from being invited, recalling that Israeli President Isaac Herzog attended the forum in January 2024 despite accusations raised against him by a number of human rights organisations.
“People have the right to know the truth and judge for themselves. Shame is solely reserved for those who think otherwise,” Araghchi noted, adding that the World Economic Forum’s double standards demonstrate “moral depravity and intellectual bankruptcy.”
